How are stories selected?
We fetch the top 20 stories from Hacker News each day, ranked by points. This ensures you see the most popular and engaged-with content from the community.
How are summaries generated?
Summaries are generated using AI (via OpenRouter). The AI reads both the linked article and the top comments, then produces a concise summary of each.
What's the difference between Articles and Digest mode?
Articles shows individual story summaries with scores and comment counts. Digest weaves all stories into a cohesive daily newsletter-style narrative.
How often is it updated?
Summaries are generated every 2 hours via a Cloudflare Worker, ensuring you always have current content.
Can I access past summaries?
Yes! Click the calendar icon (📅) to browse summaries from previous days.
Is this affiliated with Y Combinator?
No. HN-Brief is an independent project. Data is sourced from the HN Algolia API.
